この度、LA在住のアーティスト、BRETT WESTFALLと名古屋在住のアーティスト加藤Kのコラ
ボレーション作品集が完成しました。
BRETT WESTFALLは,画家であり、ファッションデザイナーでもあります。ファッションブランド
“unholymatrimony”の代表を永年勤め、長期にわたりファッションブランド、”Comme Des Garç
ons”とコラボレーションしてきたアーティストです。
一方”K.Art Studio”の代表である加藤 Kは、画家活動をする傍ら、1995年、名古屋でART
GALLERY&SHOP“K.ArtMarket"を立ち上げ、名古屋を中心としたアートコミュニティーを形成し
ました。2010年、”K.Art Studio"という名前で再スタートして、2017年現在に至ります。
二人の出会いは、1998年当時、BRETTが日本人の友人を通じ、”K.ArtMarket”を知り、イン
ターネット等のない時分、ファックスで”K.ArtMarket”にアプローチし、同年来日を果たし、同
ギャラリーで個展を開催したのが始まりでした。
その後、インターネットで交友を深め、二人の長年温めてきた「コラボレーション画集を出版する」
という夢が、この画集という形で実現しました。
この画集をきっかけに、姉妹都市でもあるロサンゼルスと名古屋の文化的交流の更なる発展の
一助になればと考えています。

In 1998 Brett Westfall and KATO K met by chance, when a friend brought
an invitation from an art exhibition opening at K. Art Market Gallery
Nagoya Japan, to America and introduced the Gallery to Brett.
From there in a world before cell phones and the very early stages
of the internet and email, Westfall would contact and approach KATO
and
K. Art Market Gallery by fax.
Soon after, at 19 years old,Westfall was invited to hold his
first ever solo art exhibition at K. Art Market Gallery in Nagoya, Japan.
It was from then that a close friendship started and after 20 years continues to grow.
Brett Westfall and KATO K continue to work together creating collaborative
works in the distance between Japan and America.

“SPACE ODDITY”
A collaborative drawing book between Brett Westfall and KATO K.
The art works were first made by KATO K in Japan, and upon completion
of the works were then shipped to Los Angeles,
so Brett Westfall could paint on them,completing the works.
